Get Bikini Ready

One of the biggest questions that women face leading up to each summer is how to get bikini ready.  During colder months, it is super easy to forget all about bikini season.  As soon as the temperatures begin to climb, panic mode sets in and we all begin the mad dash to get back in shape.  A great bikini body takes a combination of healthy nutrition, cardio and strength training.  Fortunately, there are a lot of fun ways to get in a great workout.

When most people hear cardio, they automatically think of running either on a treadmill or outside.  If you are a runner, it’s great exercise.  However, if you’re not a runner, the idea of running 5 miles a day can be enough to pull you off the path to fitness in a hurry.  Walking at a brisk pace can be a great alternative, especially when coupled with small ankle or hand weights.  It is important to start small with the weights so you don’t tax your joints too much during the impact of walking or running.  Jumping rope is another good cardio exercise to get bikini ready.  You can do it virtually anywhere, so it’s perfect for women who travel or are always on the go.  Work your way up to 45 to 60 minutes of cardio two or three times a week.

Strength training is every bit as important as cardio if you want to get bikini ready.  Weight machines at the gym two or three times a week will get the job done quickly, but if that’s not your thing then Pilates with a resistance band might be more your style.  Pilates is a great workout, and it’s also one you can do anywhere, too.  A DVD player, a great Pilates DVD and a resistance band can instantly transform your living room into your own personal gym.
